4,200 households served daily
Door-to-door collection of 3.0–3.5 metric tons of waste a day, converted into 1.6–1.8 metric tons of organic fertilizer — running since 1997.
RUSTIC operates across three districts and one metropolitan area — covering 112 rural villages and 6 urban communities, and reaching more than 250,000 people since 1988.
The working area covers the south-western coast of Bangladesh — chosen for its vulnerability and for the immense, under-used potential of its people and land.

Area of operation of RUSTIC
RUSTIC's target group is twofold: socially neglected men, women and children who live with hardship, and disaster- and climate-affected marginal farmers with little access to cultivation, aquaculture or non-farm income.
These are people who often migrate to cities and are pushed into unhygienic slums, unable to explore the potential they already carry. RUSTIC works so they can develop that potential for their own sustainable socio-economic and environmental future — through organized groups and federations.
Measurable results from across RUSTIC's programs — verified in project records and partner reports.
Door-to-door collection of 3.0–3.5 metric tons of waste a day, converted into 1.6–1.8 metric tons of organic fertilizer — running since 1997.
Installed, trained and maintained under the UPPR project — cutting wood use, smoke and carbon emissions in Khulna City Corporation.
Under RUWPP (PKSF / BCCTF), waste converted into cooking gas, lighting and fertilizer — saving families money and material.
Two non-formal education centres in Daulatpur took children out of hazardous work and into learning and better livelihoods.
16,500 saplings planted along 16.5 km of roadside in Sharankhola and Mongla — 60% surviving cyclones Sidr and Aila.
Sanitary toilets under UPPR, fresh water with Seven Hills, and rain-water harvesting in Morrelgonj with the Bangladesh NGO Foundation.
RUSTIC has accomplished partnership, collaboration and networks with national and international NGOs, donors, government bodies, research institutes, media and community organizations.
RUSTIC is led by the community and supported by those who believe in the potential of the delta.
